The Cod and Lobster Public House is situated right on the seafront of Staithes Harbour. It is so close to the sea that in the past sections of the building have been reduced to rubble by violent storms, one can see from the photos above alterations as a result of storm damage. Hopefully the new sea defences will prevent that from occurring again.

The very narrow lane on the left of the picture is actually the end of Staithes High Street as it opens out onto Seaton Garth. I call this part of the High Street, Diagon Alley, as it reminds me so much of the location in the Harry Potter novels. Any way in fine weather you can have your pint out side as there are plenty of seats on the harbour side of the pub.

It is worth going into the pub as there are plenty of old photographs of Staithes and the fisher folk. The Landlord and Landlady are avid supporters of the Lifeboat Station so be prepared to buy a raffle ticket!
