A real launch of the Staithes Inshore Lifeboat

Monday 28th June 2004

The morning tranquillity of the harbour at Staithes was shattered by the sound of the maroon blasting from the Staithes Lifeboat Station. A small group of men came running from their jobs in the town whilst other members of the crew readied the boat. Somewhere to the north a fishing boat had suffered engine failure and was being blown onto the rocks

Some hours passed during which the Staithes Lifeboat and her crew located the stranded fishing boat and took it into tow. The fishing boat was towed back to her home port and the Lifeboat returned to Staithes.
