Seaton Garth

Looking at Caw Bar Nab and the Cod'n'Lobster Public House from Seaton Garth, Staithes.

If a seaside town has a seafront then Seaton Garth is it. The dictionary would have us believe that a Garth is a dam or weir for catching fish obviously those who named this area of Staithes had other uses for the word.

This is a pleasant place to spend a few hours or more, the Harbour Side Guest House and Bistro and the Seadrift Cafe are just off shot to the left and the Cod and Lobster Public House is right in the centre of the photo. On warm days there is usually an Ice Cream van parked almost where the picture was taken.

When the tide is out there is a small sandy beach at the foot of the sea wall which is accessible by steps or by ramps at both ends of the Garth. One of which pictures below acts as the Public Slip.

You will find that there appears to be some parking spaces down here but don't be fooled they are for residents only.
